Citroën C4 X: The 408 with chevrons
CAR We are not idle at Stellantis. After the Peugeot 408, it is Citroën’s turn to present its vision of the fastback sedan.
The C4 X is 4.60 m long. That’s just 8cm less than the Peugeot 408. Yes, but if the 408 shares its EMP2 platform with the Citroën C5 X, the C4 X uses the same underside as the C4 “at all”, namely the CMP platform. For the rest, we leave you alone judges of its aesthetic which, it seems to us, should be more unanimous than that a little too tarabiscotée (Japanese?) of the C4.
Inside, Citroën focuses on the spaciousness of the rear seats that would comfortably accommodate 3 adults thanks to a knee space (presented as the best in its class) and a particularly generous elbow width. Ditto for the trunk, capable of swallowing 510 liters of luggage. The comfort is all the more appreciable as the C4 X has opted for the Advanced Comfort seats and the double progressive hydraulic stops that can be compared to shock absorbers in the shock absorber. Citroën has also paid particular attention to the storage in the cabin. There are 16 of them, representing a storage volume of 39 liters.
Good news: while in many markets (Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, Nordic markets, Portugal and the United Kingdom), the C4 X will be exclusively offered in an ë-C4 X electric version, the France will be entitled to a complete range, with in addition the PureTech 100 petrol engines (6-speed manual gearbox) and PureTech 130 (EAT8 automatic transmission), as well as the BlueHDi 130 diesel (EAT8 automatic gearbox). The ë-C4 is equipped with a 50 kWh battery allowing a range of 360 km. The engine of 136 hp – 260 Nm allows 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 s and a maximum speed of 150 km/h.
