The Peugeot 308 acclaimed by female journalists from all over the world

Ten journalists from the Women’s World Car of the Year travelled to Paris to present the Supreme Winner Award to Linda Jackson, CEO of Peugeot. What Marta Garcia, Executive President of WWCOTY, called a “historic moment”.

 

The Women’s World Car of the Year is the world’s only automotive awards group composed exclusively of female automotive journalists. The aim of this unique award is to reward the best cars of the year and give a voice to women in the automotive world. The voting criteria are based on the same principles that guide any driver in choosing a car. Aspects such as safety, quality, price, design, ease of driving, benefits and environmental footprint, among others, are taken into account during the votes.

This year, the new Peugeot 308 won all the votes in the WWCOTY, competing with 65 other cars from around the world to be named supreme winner. The culmination of a year of testing, evaluation and voting on dozens of cars around the world was crowned at a private ceremony in the French capital, in the presence of Linda Jackson, who received the trophy on behalf of Peugeot.

WWCOTY Executive Chairman Marta Garcia said: “This is a historic moment as it is the first time in WWCOTY’s thirteen-year history that the Supreme Winner has been awarded to a brand led by a woman.” To which Linda Jackson replied: “This award is a great pride for the entire Peugeot team. I am delighted to see that women are playing an increasingly important role in our industry. Thanks to this type of price, we know that we are going in the right direction. »

Cars eligible for this global price must be sold on at least two continents, even if they have different names. All votes are verified by the law firm Grant Thornton.
